Temora

Well I survived the dreaded night in the train, got up early fluffed on the internet, got in the shower while there was still hot water...big win there......then went off on my morning walk...the boys were tired and cranky and Ethan was unbearable all day...God help him if he ever pulls a partner...
Went to Maccas at Temora for breakfast, I ordered the spinach and feta wrap...the girl told me that they had no spinach and no tomato so if I did want it there wouldn't be much on it...that quickly changed my mind...

Dan and I went to the Aviation Museum, it is really good and absolutely spotless...you could eat your lunch off the floor of the hanger....not that you would want to....if you ever get the chance go and take a look at it...they also have flying weekends where they fly the planes...all of their planes are able to be flown...thinking of going down for that one weekend that it is on...

Not sure where we will end up for our next holiday...I know one place it won't be and that is the train carriage, been there done that...I always thought that I would like a train in the back yard...after last night that would be a massive no.....but maybe I could have a plane instead...

And I knocked over 12 squares of crocheting while driving around the countryside...Only 70 more to go....just in case you wanted to know that little gem of information....
Art installation on my morning walk @ West Wyalong...someone else must have admired it the night before but forgot to take their bottle with them...

Our huge cat/ tiger friend...this kitty Kat was massive and such a sweetheart...

Aviation Museum @ Temora..Ryan STM S2 an American built plane... my favourite...

Timber propeller on the Ryan...

Lockheed Hudson...

My growing pile of squares..

The travelling squares...

And that's about it for this holiday, hope that you have had fun travelling around the countryside with us. ....thanks for coming along for the ride....x

West Wyalong

It's been a driving day today. left Mildura early as we decided that we wanted to go through Griffith...many years ago I did a very long jury duty of a armed robbery and assault that had happened in Griffith...I had always wanted to see where all the things were that related to the crime...so today was the day...the bank is in the same spot but they have shut the back entrance (that was the escape route at the time) and the Police Station has moved but everything else was the same...
Stopped at Balranald for some morning tea and had the best slice, you know the biscuit base and like a cheesecake middle and the thick red jelly on top...so good...will have to get my act together when I get home, no more cakes and biscuits...
It is a huge growing area all around so many things, citrus, grapes, cotton, potatoes, watermelon, rockmelon, eggplant, garlic...there are stalls everywhere, we picked up a big tray of white grapes for $25 they were $5 per bag, like the ones you get in the supermarket or the tray and I think that there are 8 or 10 bags in the tray...don't buy grapes I have heaps...
Had lunch at a bakery in Griffith, can you see that there is a common thread here...chicken pie and then a gelato...
We are at West Wyalong for the night in a train...yep. Greg even found me a motel because I am such a princess and a whinger and the train is well different...stay with me here....it rocks when you walk up the corridor there is no passing room to walk down the side of it so if there are two of you it's single file or slot into the bedroom which is one of the compartments....if I sleep on the side closest to the corridor then he has to climb over me...so it goes like this, Greg has a shower and says oh the shower is really good, I decide to have one, hop in and within 30 seconds there is no hot water...I'm yelling he is laughing...I know I should have taken the motel room...oh well I usually wake up really early so as soon as I am up they will be too...payback....
They are really big on the knitted pole covers.

A bit of bike art.

Someone got a bit fancy.

Pretty sure that they had drovers for these cattle...there was a couple of guys on horses a little bit down the road with caravan.

As soon as Ethan gets in the car to drive there is something weird or long that is on the road...

Corvette in the main st of Griffith...

It had a leather bra in the front of it...

The bank in question...

Our train for the night....hopefully we will get a good night's sleep...might be smelly though...due to the hot water situation...

Stefano's Mildura

This was our third visit  to Stefano's and once again it was brilliant...Food, service and atmosphere were amazing...

We sat down and they brought out their hand made bread with a bowl of olives....probably sensational olives but we didn't eat the olives as neither of us like them.... they came back around and asked if everything was ok, we said sorry we don't like olives..... they were whisked off the table and replaced with roasted capsicum and basil in no time flat....

We had the 5 course option they also had a 2 and 3 course option....5 courses was $95 per person...

Had to photograph the people on the next tables dessert as we were talking to them when our's came and started eating eat as we were talking...oopsie...

The restaurant is in a old cellar  it is really dark down there, my handbag was against the wall, when I picked it up it was so wet...I hadn't noticed but our side had water coming down the wall...my handbag was laying in it...hopefully it will be dry after hanging out all night...

Would go again in a heartbeat....the waiter was Stefano's son, he was brilliant...got talking to him and told him the first time we went he was colouring while his Dad worked...he did have a laugh at that...made us feel old though...
1st course was buffalo mozzarella with pappa al pomodoro ( I think that is right, it's tomato, olive oil, day old bread, basil, garlic and onion), handmade grissini and a slice of something...gave that to Greg as I don't like pork...It was so nice could have eaten another plate full...

Crab souffle with a bechamel sauce...so delicate, it just melted in your mouth...

Hand made pasta with eggplant and goats cheese...

The main was lamb with potato and beans...so good...

Lemon panna cotta...the one we got had a almond biscotti on top...

Chocolate cannoli and ricotta cannoli

Greg's port at the end of the meal, he didn't drink the bottle, after they poured his glass there was only a little bit left so they left the bottle for him to finish it...

Mildura...

We have arrived after a false start this morning, Greg left his phone in the room....lucky he remembered before we had gone too far....think we nearly got to Gepps Cross.......so we turn around we did and  went back to the hotel...

Got to Mildura late so haven't really had a chance to have a good look around...we did go for a walk up the street and I ended up getting my hair done to go out for dinner tonight....just don't look at my clothes....I did try and find something with no luck as the shops were shutting....oh well they hopefully won't be looking at me...

There are so many grape vines along the way......and a massive winery I think it was Kingston Wines......just huge....we did see a sign for port @ $5 a litre....I was driving so we didn't stop...can't imagine what it would have been like...

We had some of the peacharines in the car with us so had to eat them before we got to the quarantine box...it must have looked funny us shoveling them in...

Sorry just a quick one  as I have a date with Stefano tonight and am nowhere near ready...
The cafe we went into last night for a drink...

Meringues at the bakery at Truro...

Sign on the cash register at the bakery.

Grape vines

Bad blurry photo I know, but this was at Maccas at Renmark, the dog was a Autism Assistance Dog...the young boy was tied to the dog and the Mum had the dog's lead...South Australia is the only one doing this type of dog...the dog was 3 years old, looked like she was bombproof....her name was Danzie...

Bridge over the Murray River...

Big Dunlop tyre on the Sturt Highway...

Ethan always drives the last 100 klms, this was as we were coming into town...the traffic behind him...

Bet they were happy when we turned off....

Adelaide

Had a great day in Adelaide today caught the tram down to Glenelg to have a bit of a look around...such a pretty place...came back up into the city as Ethan had decided that he wanted to buy a camera with his Christmas money, there was a camera that he wanted at Harvey Norman that was reduced heavily but the city store didn't have all of the package, so I drove him out to Noarlunga to pick it up...a 60 klm round trip....
Came back to the hotel and again we had not stopped for lunch, while he played around with his camera I popped into the Central Markets to pick something up to eat...they had some amazing things the fruit and veg was fabulous...lots of different meats...was wandering down the aisles and came across Poh, I was a bit starstruck as I have always thought that she should have won the first series of Masterchef...had a photo taken with her at her shop and she was just lovely....so were all the staff...as I left, there was another lady waiting with her son...she said to me if you can do it so can I...
Went back to the Aboriginal shop to buy a tablecloth that I liked, I wanted a different one but they didn't have it in our table size...got the one that I did want as a tablecloth in a table runner size and picked up another table runner that was on clearance. So half of my Christmas money got spent as well...
Walked back up to the city to pick up a few things that Dan wanted to get, we did wait for the tram but when it pulled up it was packed so we decided to walk up there...found one of those $2.80 shops and picked up a few things, one of them was some Ritz bits little ritz biscuits with a vanilla centre...they are very good, can't show you cause they are all gone....
Had dinner at Pepper Lunch it was so so good, I had pepper chicken with no pepper...I know it is not right is it...Dan had Pepper steak and Greg had pepper prawns, Ethan went back to the room as he wanted to watch the cricket and he was going to get Subway which was closed so he sent me a message to get him something on our way back...he ended up having the same as what I had but back in the room...The boys have changed rooms as their air conditioner was playing up and they couldn't fix it...they are now only a few rooms away from us...we are heading out after the cricket for Ethan to have a play with his camera....off to Mildura tomorrow...
