Happy New Year

We had a very quiet one, did not hear a thing...there is a total fire ban on the Island due to the weather and everything is so dry here...

Ethan has been busy making a Etsy shop with his images that he has taken, he only has 3 images in there it is a work in progress........blatant plug below for the boy.

Went for my morning walk and found a new way to come back to here, in front of the pub, it's very pretty...and just a heads up if you buy the Kmart dress that goes over your cossies, don't put it in the dryer....shrinking factor...is a lot...

We are off to The Remarkable's  when we can all get ready...I'm on here so better get off and play my part in the getting ready bit.
Electric car charging station, these are everywhere but we haven't seen one electric car here as yet.

One of the quaint little cottages in the village.

The front garden is covered in succulents, it looks amazing and is so much better than dead grass.

This is the story about the Aboriginal woman taken by sealers and forced to hunt seals.

The Contemplation Seat.

The fish shop sign...I forgot to tell you how expensive everything is...4 boxes of fish and chips were $94...

I just love this sign, the Catholics and Anglican's share a church for their services...

Beach day...

We have had a hot one today, I walked first thing in the morning and then had breakfast out on the deck......headed off to the beach after a early lunch, the boys wanted to go to the rock pool beach that they went to last night...freezing, I tell you....water coming straight from Antarctica...I got in but only up to  my thighs and then decided that it was a tad too cold for my liking....Dan wanted the Go-Pro so I volunteered to drive home and pick it up...he ended up swimming around with it to chase some little fish in the water...we then headed over to Island Beach, that was the beach that we went to yesterday....didn't stay that long as it had got really windy...popped into the Sunset Winery on our way home, only brought some chocolate almonds, we will check the other winery's out before we go.....so a pretty slow day for us.....
Went for my morning walk and saw a guy watering the garden in the main street, this was the sign that was in the garden.

One side of the Island is very rocky just like this in some places...

My morning view on my walk...

Pennington Bay

Too rough for me (doesn't look that rough in this photo but it really truly was) but the kids loved the rock pools here.

We had Vietnamese on the beach, this little caravan had 2 ladies in there cooking up a storm...they were there all day today and back again tomorrow....

Ethan had caramelised pork with rice

Chicken salad for me...

The cross tree at the cemetery.

There are two cross tree's one on each side of the gate...

Mary Seymour's Grave, she was the first recorded birth on the Island, her Mum was a Tasmanian Aborigine and her Dad was a retired Whaler. I am sure that I read that the Aboriginal woman were taken to be used as seal poachers...will take a photo of the plaque when I take my morning constitutional.
Grandpa look what I picked up at the local IGA....Sweet!!!
This one is for Grandpa, the lighthouse  at Cape Willoughby..

The view from the front of the house....well I did forget and walked a little way before I remembered that I needed to show you this view...

A bit of a rest day....

We headed out late today as one of the boys slept in ( we all know which one that was, don't we)....I headed out for a walk early and walked all the way into town up the hill and then back again...the ferry was just coming in as I got to the wharf...there was even a horse waiting to board when I came back...looked pretty funny standing in it's float....We went round to Kingscote and Emu Bay, checked out the lavender farm had a lavender scone, different...went to the eucalyptus farm didn't buy anything there...we brought some lavender and aloe stuff for my leg...stupid jelly fish...

Drove the car onto the beach only to see a Mazda 3 come screaming past, so much for a 4wd on sand.....had a swim in the crystal clear water without any jellyfish (thank goodness) and the speed boat thing came flying past with everyone waving at us...not sure if they thought we were beached....

It was 38 degrees here so we headed back to Island beach that the lady in the information recommended must have walked 200 metres before it became waist deep...the water was just fabulous..came back to do some washing and the boys went down to the harbour....

Fish and chips were had for dinner, Greg and I had King George Whiting, yeah not as good as I thought it would be...Dan had flathead it was lovely and Ethan had salmon...the lady that owns the fish and chip shop was telling me that she only works October to April and then heads home to the UK and Europe to spend all the money that she makes in those busy months...they are also having a Ultra marathon here next year if anyone is interested...just a tip it's pretty hilly so it won't be pleasant...they had their first marathon this year...no parkrun as yet...that's probably good as it is very hilly....having trouble with the photos again....

Miles and miles of nothingness...
Parking space sorted...
Hahaha...
Ever had to move a silo?
Well that's the way you do it...bet you haven't seen anything like this in the city.
A very hot Emu...at the Emu farm...
Weird cows they have here...
St George Whiting with Tartare sauce and chips.

Kangaroo Island...

So far so good well to a certain extent...we went to the beach and Dan and I got stung by jellyfish...man those suckers hurt...he has it on his arm I have them on my arms and both legs...it's now been about 4 hours since they got us and it still hurts...a bit like a burn with lots of needles sticking in you....ouch!!!!

We have the most amazing house here, it has everything that you could ever want and more...
Left this one out, grabbing some rays out on the deck...
The kitchen..
Dining room
Lounge room
Lounge room from the other side
There are 4 bedrooms just like this one.

Will take a photo of the view tomorrow to show you how special it is.
Jelly fish stingers on Dan's arm.
My jelly fish adventure...

Victor Harbour and Cape Jarvis.

Victor Harbour was absolutely packed we didn't get much of a look around but will try again on our way back..few things that we need to do there, the steam engine is only one of them...we picked up some supplies from Coles and had a Macca's lunch....filled up with petrol and headed to Cape Jarvis to catch the ferry over to KI....
Cape Jarvis
Lighthouse with the B doubles waiting to get on the bigger ferry.
The water is just stunning....
Our ferry coming in...
While we were waiting one of the guys fishing pulled this squid in...
In order of importance who comes off first....puppies, then cars, then humans...
Dan taking the car on board.
Not so squeezie.
And there goes the mainland...

The other ferry going back.
The cubed house in Victor Harbour...
