It started off so well got to the airport with plenty of time, though
it did ages to get through Customs, Greg was picked for the full body
scan, I was picked for the drug and explosives test & Dan got both,
Ethan got through with nothing.....
Was at the gate on time,
boarded on time, got into our seats getting settled in for the 9 hour
flight the Captain tells us the stats of the flight and then the
Auxilary Power Supply in the tail catches fire, it was caused by a oil
leak, smoke billowing out and as we were thinking umm, this is not right
all the power goes down on the plane......We have emergency vehicles
coming in all directions and the Captain gets on a back up PA to tell us
to stay seated and the flight crew will get back to us......My phone
was turned off for the flight so I have no photo's of the smoke but
hopefully you get the picture......The Captain came back on to tell us
that we were to disembark while the engineer's checked out the
problem.....we were back onboard 2 hours later with no APS, it is only
used to give power to the plane when it is on the ground, when we landed
at Bangkok they hooked us up to the terminal power supply the engines
were kept running until that was done as we would have had no air-con or
lighting if they had switched the engines off...
