Another full on day in Bangkok, the boys have gone down for a massage (again) and I'm having some quiet time blogging.......
Breakfast was sensational again today the chef has my poached eggs down pat now, but I'm thinking that the little dumpling are my new favourite's they are fantastic, I could have eaten them all.....well I did knock over a few of them.....
We headed out to The Royal Palace with about a million of our nearest and dearest friends, that was pretty special....at the Temple you must have covered legs and shoulders and if you don't you can't go inside, they do however let you borrow clothes.....It does look funny groups of guys all with their elephant pants on......It cost us $500baht each to go in around $16 AUD.....There are scammers everywhere some telling you the Palace is closed today, some saying that it doesn't open until later in the afternoon & some selling clothes outside the same as you can borrow for free inside.....We also found it hard to get a metered taxi back to the hotel a lot of them will take you at a cheaper rate but they have one stop along the way at their cousins shop of course.....
We also spent time in one of the markets last night but didn't know that it was in a seedier part of town, Ethan thought it was so funny that there were "Lady Boys" everywhere and some of the stall's were not so family friendly with what they were selling....we also found by accident a Middle Eastern part of town that had the most amazing smells, they were burning bark in little burners and the smell was fantastic.....in beautiful bottles they had lots of different oils like Amber that had a musky woody smell....there were woman everywhere in burqa's and the restaurants all had the smoking pipes.......
We are off to have dinner at the restaurant downstairs tonight and then staying close to the hotel as I am sure it will be really hard to get a taxi there are people everywhere....I also found out today that I have been saying hello in Thai and telling everyone that I am a "Lady Boy" as you can imagine Ethan thinks it is hilarious.....have changed what I say now and am back to being a lady.....
Happy New Year back home in Australia you will see it long before us.....hope it's a great year for you all....
