Penguins and other bit's....a bit out of order....

Dan and I went for our nightly walk last night and on the way back he decided that we should do the penguin tour, the others didn't want to go so it was just the two of us....when we got there the guy said that there was only one penguin spotted the night before and that we may not see any.....as they are all out at sea fattening themselves up ( that must be what I am doing, going to moult) to come in and moult...they stay in for 3 weeks when they moult and as they are not waterproof until they finish their moult they can't go out to sea to feed....Usually I am the bearer of doom when we are trying to spot an animal ( try platypus, they hide as soon as I am looking for them)....anyway we walked down the coast where they usually are and back again and then bingo we heard one, off we all went in search of it.....it was so windy and very cold but we soldiered on and we were rewarded with not one but three penguins....the guy was pretty happy as he was very concerned that we wouldn't see any...they usually come in around February for their moult and then in Spring to lay their eggs...it takes the babies 8 weeks to be able to go out to sea....because of the big seal colonies there the penguins are getting fewer than in previous years....

Because it is dark and you need a red torch to see them and not hurt their little eyes the photos turn out like this.

Mulberry picking, that was from three of them, so juicy and delicious...Greg thought that Dan had fallen over and cut himself....

The boys room here in Adelaide.

Windy much....

Cassowary cam...
A better photo of the panda...

Hello gorgeous one...

Sea otters...

Tawny frogmouth Owl sitting on a nest...those eyes are just beautiful...

Well goodbye Kangaroo Island....in the other ferry it has a deck on top of the cars....this one doesn't as it can take the big trucks...that means that the seating on the deck isn't as good as the smaller ferry...this ferry is the Spirit of Kangaroo Island...

Goodbye Kangaroo Island....

No walk this morning as we were on the early 8.30am ferry......I had the job of taking the car onto the ferry and I now think that I am the cleverest chick on the planet, just wait till you see my parking job...I am so impressed with myself, it's not funny.....I just happened to be the person that had to reverse in and had to watch the guy telling me what to do without looking at my mirrors...talk about take the control away from a control freak....with the reverse parking sensors going off....

I ended up driving all the way to Adelaide it's only 100 klms so not that far and we stopped off at a cafe on the way to have some breakfast....so yum and so quick....well hello mainland!!!
Got into Adelaide and went to the zoo, only one of the Panda's was out when we got there but when we had finished we went back to see if they were both there and they were... they are very hopeful that the little girl panda is pregnant they only mate once a year and missed that chance but they took measures into their own hands...how cute if she does have a cub...they are only here until 2019, unless they negotiate a longer term they will go back with any babies they have....the photo that I have isn't very good will try and get the boys photos from them....
The poor flamingo  that is there is on his lonesome, the others have all died...the one that died last year was 83 and they only last about 45 years....the one and only that is left is in his 60's....due to quarantine laws and politics we won't be getting any more....

And the meerkats that are there are turning white (think it said that they were all from the same family), they don't know why so they are keeping an eye on them.....

We walked back from the zoo to the hotel, about 4.5 klms and it was hot, but along the way Dan put us right out the front of a Chatime....well hello green tea with passionfruit and pearls..oh how I have missed you.....I'm now on my second one, it's been a long week with no bubble tea....

Tried to get tickets to the BBL for tomorrow night but can only get single seats...have decided that we will watch it in the room, rather than not being able to sit together....

I cannot believe that I got that car in there....

Impressed? Oh my stars I am....I hate driving Greg's car at the best of times...

I was jammed over on the right hand corner...

The cattle were pretty jammed in I suppose it would stop them falling with the motion of the ship...

That was my view when I got back in to take the car out...

Wind farm...

These guys are massive....

Remember these tables anyone?

This was a mini library in the main street, take a book but you must replace it...@ Normanton

Greg and I shared a omelette, on the laminex table....

Does this remind you of hungry hungry hippos....

Their teeth were huge....

Looking cute for a minute, that is until they move....

Galapagos tortoise, one was eating sweet potato and the other one was eating cauliflower.

Meerkat rest home...

One of the white Meerkats...

Ocean Safari

We went back up to the markets to pick up some lunch for all of us but alas there was nothing left...so came back and made toasted cheese sandwiches......
I did buy a little quiche for my dinner popped it in the microwave opened the door when it beeped and it was on fire...smoke pouring out of it....it was like a nuclear explosion in there....lucky that we had enough lamb chops (also brought at the markets) so I did get some dinner....also picked up 4 cucumbers they were $1 each but when I paid for my two the lady gave them to me for $1 so I ended up buying all she had (4 of them) for $2...they were delicious...Oh, forgot something else, we got some sheep haloumi from here, so delicious...cooked the whole pack and we ate the whole pack....and some lemon and lime cordial, yep it's good as well...though I don't think that the cream that i brought for my sting has done anything...give it time Leanne, give it time....

Booked the Ocean Safari  for all of us and tried to book the fishing guy but am still waiting for him to call back...the boys tried to fish off the wharf but it was way too windy...

The ocean safari was pretty good, there were a few spare seats so a couple of local girls with their dog came along...the dog was really good just sat there letting the guy behind me  pat it....of course it worked it's way to me for pats as well...

The people across the road have visitors that brought their poodles with them....they love me, even the old cranky one that doesn't like anybody got up in my lap...the lady said that just doesn't happen....just call me the crazy poodle lady....she works at a nursing home and they both go to work with her the older one sits under her desk but the younger one goes and gets on the bed of whoever he wants to....she said she doesn't see him till it's time to go home....so flippin cute....both of them...
They have a mulberry tree out the front that is covered in them....we stood there munching the ripe ones for ages...so much better than any I have ever eaten...looked like I had killed someone when I came home, my hands were covered in red...

We are leaving here tomorrow heading to Adelaide for a few days, first thing I am going to do is........
wait for it, I bet you have no idea what it is? ok, some of you would have guessed by now......Bubble Tea, here I come, Dan has already looked up where all the stores are...they even have my favourite store there...think I might try them all....
Our ocean safari blow up boat thingy.

The rocks reminded me of old timber...

Coastline...

Synchronized swimming seal style.....

These two did not move and the smaller one to the left looked so comfortable draped over the rock...

These are long nosed seals, they go out into the ocean for three days to feed and then come back and laze around....

So many of them, they are everywhere...

Seal cam....

The water is so crystal clear you can see the bottom in most places...

Penneshaw Markets

Dan and I went for a walk last night along my usual route......decided to take a walk along the wharf and nearly blew right back to Australia....
Came back  past the pub as Dan wanted to show me where they had taken some photos.... famous last words were "no I will fall down the cliff" well I didn't go down the cliff I got stuck in a root of a tree and fell up the hill onto  my knee and hand...(not nearly as good as Mandy's stack)...all good though just a few grazes...walked again this morning in the drizzle.....

Went past where the markets are held and there was a family there sleeping in swags...I just brought some Malaleuca Propolis from that same family hoping that it will get rid of the redness in my jellyfish

sting..Have you seen the ads for the jellyfish creams on TV, maybe now I will become young again...don't jellyfish rejuvenate themselves....or I will become a gelatinous blob...yep, i'm thinking the latter is most likely...
Think this was the bigger ferry moored out there for the night...

In the swing of things at the market.

This guy was so cool, the drums had different skins, some were deer and some were goat...

One of the ladies that I brought some presents from said, "they complain about the service and lack of cafes but if they want that they should go to the Mornington Peninsula" ....classic....

The coolest guy on the Island.

It got really crowded and I went to buy some little cakes to take home and the lady had run out....
This is what a jellyfish sting looks like on day 5....

New idea for the garden Veronica......
