Strathalbyn

Strathalbyn, what an oasis...just picture perfect with the best amenities on the planet...the school had everything that you could want or need, the park was postcard perfect, library was amazing, the church in the park was something out of Downton Abbey...coffee shop was fabulous, little local craft shop was 3 rooms of locally made stuff...
See what I mean, gorgeous...

Picture postcard...
Wasn't quick enough to get the mother duck with about 12 babies but we did think that she was the local child minding service for the day...how do you cope with that many....
Even the dead tree looked amazing..
Ethan's been at it again...
Couldn't forget Dan and his effort from a few days before...

Ethan's photo's

Ethan got a new phone from Santa....he has been taking a heap of photos along the way...some of them are really good (well it might be mummy talking here)....

Garlic bread at Charlie's Pub Narrandera.

Railway tracks at Narrandera.

Probably my favourite a train on the tracks at Narrandera.

Bridge across the Murray River along the way.

Salt lake.

Wetlands at Pinaroo.

Paddle steamer at Murray Bridge.

Murray River at Murray Bridge.

Mill at sunset at Murray Bridge...just after our run...

Along the levy bank....where we ran, can you tell I'm happy about that run....hell yes...

Murray Bridge

Narrandera to Murray Bridge was our longest day  over 700 kilometres....we got here and of course headed out to find a gym for Ethan...nothing open as it was a public holiday we went down to the Murray River to take a look around...found some interesting stuff sent Dan a pic, and then had to come back to the motel to pick him up....Dinner was at Fasta Pasta...yep with a name like that we should have moved on...it was pretty ordinary...Ethan and I walked the bridge both ways...got back to the motel which is really nice but looks like the Jetson's could have lived here..something out of the 70's....decided to go for a run along the levy....and yes I went as well, just the two of us with a heard of cows that were pretty interested in joining us, some grumpy geese which I was pretty worried about...our neighbour used to have them until they became Christmas dinner...and all the other river birds...it runs along the side of the  Murray River pretty nice to run if only I wasn't so intent on gasping for breath it would have been beautiful...but the best news is I ran it all, 2.3 klms in a not bad time for someone that hasn't run for 5 months....
You probably can't see this that well but they have knitted the posts of all the signs.
Trisha I expect this on all of our posts next Christmas.
Quarantine station on the border from Vic to SA
Ah yes the Sunken Alfred, one for Dad.
These things were massive, probably cost as much as a house..well maybe not a Sydney house.
The Murray Bridge.

Koala pic and Dan's way of turning around...

Photo evidence of what happens when you try to turn around in a puddle....
You can never have too many koala photo's can you....

Straight in he went....
It's good to check after the event how deep it is...

Yep, that's how you do it....

A grand design home

This place was being built and I can only assume it's a home...it was looking amazing and it would be a dream home to build...it was being build on the old brewery site, not sure what they are going to do with the ruin but it all looks amazing...the river runs along the front of it....
Can you see the bird in this stump...it's out the front of the wetlands.
New meets old...
Think I could even move to the country to live in this...

Narrandera again...

Whenever we have done a driving holiday Greg is the main driver this time it is so different...We have all had a go with Dan doing probably the most of it...Ethan usually does the last 100 kilometres he is speed limited to 90 km/h so you do see a lot of things that you normally wouldn't...like road signs and where the lines on the road need painting...all the good stuff....Ethan was driving Dan and I in the back and Dan says have you ever had you life flash before your eyes...look behind you...there was a Collins B double screaming down behind us and  we thought we were going to end up on his grill....Ethan doing 90 and slowing down at a alarming rate and this guy hammering it.....all ended well as he overtook us he did the thank you indicator think we could have done without the first part though....welcome to Australia...
Cicada tree, there were shells everywhere, all over the ground....crunch, crunch, crunch...
Bike racks in the main street...
Ethan's best buddy overtaking him....Dan and I needing a therapist...
Tiger Moth.

Wagga Wagga

I've been having trouble loading the photos onto the blog, am going to try and do it a different way to see if this works...Sorry they are out of order but hopefully this will sort it out now....my tech help desk boy is sound asleep...typical....

RAAF Plane at Wagga Wagga
Even though it said now open it wasn't and it still had the Winter trading hours sign on the gate...

Frilled neck lizard made out of scrap.

More of his welded art...I would have put all of it on a truck and sent it home...

So much detail and work went into all of these pieces but the houses were amazing...
