Carvings

Angkor Wat is covered in intricate carvings.  Females were thought to hold the power of the universe and so their carvings feature prominently although they were forbidden to enter or worship here (unless they were dancers).

Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat is the world's largest religious monument. It was built from 1113 by King Suryavarman ll who ruled over the largest city on earth at the time and whose Khmer empire covered most of today's Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.

The tuktuks in Cambodia are pretty flash and very quaint compared to their Bangkok cousins. A private tour of Angkor Wat costs $10 a day for up to 4 people. 

Cambodia, Siem Reap - Pub Street

Siem Reap, a resort town in northwestern Cambodia, is the gateway to the ruins of Angkor, the seat of the Khmer kingdom from the 9th–15th centuries. The main tourist area of Siem Reap is know as Pub Street and has hundreds of restaurants,  bars, markets and massage places.  It is loud, gaudy and a great place to wander around.  The food is good,  the massages cheap and the markets are everywhere. They sell many fake goods and souvenirs but not much of any quality.
